Thing #2 ~ Lifelong Learning

Today I watched an online presentation "The 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Learners". I learned not to be afraid to set a goal and learn something new! I will never be too old to learn or create a new interest. I have decided on a few new interests that I have decided to learn.

Here they are:

1) Learn how to speak Spanish. I have always wanted to learn how to speak Spanish. St. Mary's County has a growing population of Spanish speaking persons. If a Spanish speaking person comes into the library I want to be able to communicate well enough so I can help them in their quest to find information. I know I can accomplish this because my other goal was to learn sign language to help the Deaf community when they come into the library. I am now fluent in sign language and use it as a daily part of my life...at work and at home.

2) I want to create and publish a blog of my own that I can talk to other people about a hobby and/or interest that I enjoy. After the Learning 2.0 23 Things activity I am fairly confident that I can do this easily!

3) I want to create an outdoor oasis at my new home...when it's finally finished :-) I'm thinking a small pond with a square deck built around the pond with a long walkway to the house. A place that my daughter and I as well as friends and family can relax and enjoy. Something that is designed and built by me with beautiful plants and a gorgeous site to see!

I can't wait to get started on my new learning quests!

Thing #5 ~ Gotta Love Flickr

I went to Flickr today for the first time and had a blast! I dicovered so many new photos related to the things that I love. The best discovery that I made was a group of people that all have my same favorite hobby...collecting beach glass. I had no idea that so many people were interested in beach glass as a hobby! I am now a member of Flickr and plan on posting some of my own favorite photos that I took with my digital camera.
